Training
There are countless training courses that are available with Xero to increase your skills and understanding of the software. The top two that are Xero recommend for any small business owner are as follows:
Basic Accounting - Click here
This covers the core basics of how accounting works with Xero. You are guided through the types of transactions that can be created, what is the chart of accounts, and how transactions can affect your financial reports.
Xero Essentials for Business - Click here
This course looks at other key areas that a business owner using Xero would need to know. Topics covered look at understanding your dashboard, bank reconciliation, and how the debits and credits work.
There are also many other courses available at your fingertips from mastering your business’s cash flow, setting up Payroll, and Making Tax Digital (MTD).
To access these courses follow these steps
Log into Xero.
Click the company name in the top left corner to bring up the drop-down menu.
Click “My Xero” (This will open in a new tab)
Click “Learning and Tools” and on the drop-down click “Learning (Xero Central")” this again will open in a new tab.
You can then pick your learning by a specific topic like “Bank feeds” or choose a program like mentioned above that will guide you through a specific course on various topics
Xero Community
Part of the support section is the Community area. Here you can browse topics and discussions created by the community where you can also ask questions for other users to support you and provide their fixes and issues.
There are many resources available to you here such as step-by-step guides, training videos, and articles. These are accessed by following the guide below and either searching for or clicking a specific topic relating to your issue.
Xero Support
You are also able to contact Xero Support directly and raise a support ticket with them about an issue that you have using the software. To raise a ticket with the support team you can:
Click the “?” help button in the top right of your screen
Click “Go to Xero Central”
Pick any of the “popular topics”
Scroll down and you can pick to either ask the community or contact support
You will then be asked what support you need (from this you will be suggested any relevant articles that could potentially assist you.
You can click “I still need help” which will take you to the form to fill out your issue.
Here you should provide as much detail as you can, add screenshots, and whether you want to include other people in the thread to see the conversation.
The support team tends to respond within 1-2 working days and responses will be notified through your Xero registered email so that you don’t miss any updates.
