Xero Q2 Update

To make sure we are best equipped to support you and your Xero questions our team attended the latest Xero Quarterly Update. Here are our key takeaways that we feel South London Business owners should know.

Reports Search Function

Within the reporting page, you may find it overwhelming the number of reports that are available. Xero has now released a search bar at the top of the reporting page. You can search for any report by typing in the name of what you are looking for, Xero will then suggest reports based on similar names and descriptions to what you have entered.

Report descriptions

Report descriptions can now be turned on or off. If you are unsure what a report shows you can turn on the “show descriptions” option which will allow you to have a short summary of the content of the report.

If you are still unclear Xero Central will have dedicated support articles about each report and how best to use it.

Full report guides can be found here.

Xero App Launcher

You may have noticed a new button on the navigation bar on Xero next to your account image in the top right corner. This is Xero’s new app launcher menu. This menu will show any app that has been connected with Xero and you will be able to open it directly from this menu. There will also be the option to browse other apps on the Xero Marketplace that could be integrated later down the road.

Xero tips

Planned payment dates

Within the Awaiting Payment section of the invoices tab, you can add an expected date for when you will receive a payment. To do this, make sure you are on the awaiting payment screen for invoices. You will see a column titled “Expected Date” and there will be a plus icon on each invoice line. Click the + and put any notes and dates relating to the payment. Make sure to click save so that it appears on the screen.

Keyboard shortcuts

Looking for a specific part of Xero but not sure how to get there? Simply press / on your keyboard when on the desktop version of Xero and this will open the search bar. From here you can search for the part of Xero you are looking for and it will bring up all the suggested results that relate to your search.
