What is Child Benefit Charge?

Higher Income Child Benefit Charge allows HMRC to take back Child Benefit from families where the highest paid earner has income above £50k.

The amount recovered is 1% of the total benefit received for every £100 earned over £50k. The charge is paid via Self Assessment.
